DTTAG Newsletter
Issue No. 1, July 2010
Welcome Note
Iain Pic
Welcome to the DTTAG's inaugural newsletter, a mecha
nism to keep you, our members, up to date with changes to legislation; trends in the indus
try; and, indeed, specifics that impact us directly in Dubai.

Over the last three years, our committee has been improving the financial position of DTTAG and strengthening the benefits to its members.  We continue to represent you within organizations such as UFTAA, IATA and at other body meetings such as APJC, DCCI and DTCM. You will agree that we have made some progress.  Certainly we have a lot to do and achieve. Therefore, we will continue to drive our plans to help you build the profitability of your businesses.

DTTAG Notes

This first issue is very much experimental and needs the input from both DTTAG members and non-members alike to ensure it is a dynamic vehicle to express and reflect the views of the travel trade here in Dubai. As the e-zine develops we would like to see much more of the content come from the trade itself as opposed to the executive committee members. We would like to see readers comments with positive constructive criticism as well as suggestions for how DTTAG can better serve the industry.

We will try to get input from our partners in the trade including airlines; GDS suppliers; Car Rental companies; NGO's and hotels as well as IATA to supply articles of interest as well as maybe some competitions prizes. However initially we need to see input from the travel agents themselves. So please let us have your opinions and thoughts as well as any articles you think would be of benefits to your colleagues in the industry.

DTTAG Trainings

Currently we are running 2 courses each month for our members; both free of charge although a fully refundable deposit is requested for the TRS training courses. The first course sponsored and provided very kindly by Emquest handles 12 attendees per month at the Emirates Training College opposite the Irish Village. These soft skills courses include subjects such as Communication Skills, Assertiveness, Time Management.  Students are requested to provide feedback after the training as well as the course tutor. We have had some very positive comments on both sides and future editions of the e-zine will carry samples of same.

The second set of courses are provided by TRS and as mentioned, the charges for same are covered by DTTAGfrom membership and sponsorship fees. These courses can accommodate up to 10 students at a time and are more trade focussed than the more soft skill approach of the Emquest sessions( Key Account Management, Professional Service Fees Management, Fine art of Consulting, etc.,) There will be certification at the conclusion of the training and this is something which will be of value to both the attendees as well as their employers.

TRS Consulting has been providing external training forEmquest since 2003 and recently signed an agreement to enhance the training opportunities offered.

Arabian Travel Market. There were several seminars sessions during ATM some of which included notable people from the industry.
